Color
The closer a diamond is to colorless, the more rare and valuable it is. While the majority of gem diamonds appear to be colorless, others can contain increasing shades of yellow to brown, some of which are referred to as champagne diamonds. Other diamonds of exceptional color--red, blue, green, pink, and amber--are known as "Fancies."Diamonds that are graded D, E, and F are considered colorless. A diamond's color is graded on a scale of DZ, with D representing a colorless diamond, and Z a heavily tinted diamond.
